Abstract:

Introduction: The right use of BLOOD is necessary because of the high cost of correct BLOOD screening, BLOOD grouping, and cross match. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the rate of the reserved and cross matched BLOOD before elective surgeries which were done in Bahman 22nd Hospital. It also aims at evaluating the standard guideline for ordering BLOOD.Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study from 1380 to 1388 that evaluates evaluating 6145 files of the patients hospitalized in 22 Bahman 22nd Hospital for surgery during the years of 1380 to 1388. The elective operations include General surgery, Gynecology, orthopedic, ENT, Urology and Neurosurgery. The number of patients, the number of reserved and cross matched units and the number of transfused units was recorded for each group of patients collected in each groups. Finally, the number of reserved BLOOD units in that period of time and in each group was compared with the standard guideline. Also the number of transfused BLOOD units was evaluated. The ratio of cross matched to transfused BLOOD units lower than 2.5 was considered as standard. And The obtained data were analyzed, using with SPSS.Results: A total of 1557 BLOOD units of BLOOD were reserved for 772 patients.1305 units (66.47%) were cross matched, but just 126 units (8.1%) were transfused. The effective factors in increasing the possibility of transfusion were the ages<20 & >80 years old, Hb £ 12, the type of surgery and the surgeon. Although after the application of the guidelines in1385, there was 64.44% decrease in the rate of cross matching rate due to the decrease in the number of patients who were cross matched, but the average of cross matched units for each patient did not change. The total of C/T index of the hospital decreased from 14.1 to 3.7.Conclusion: The appropriate correct BLOOD reserving can decrease the unnecessary BLOOD reserves, lower the pressure on BLOOD banking centers and prevent BLOOD wastage.

Introduction: A great attention has been made by fortification of bread with oat diet fibers. Oat fibers are known as a lowering substance of BLOOD SUGAR, cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL and LDL. In this study 25 percent of wheat flour was replaced with oat flour to produce oat wheat bread and to investigate the effect of oat bread consumption on BLOOD SUGAR, Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL and LDL.Methods: The extraction rate of Roshan variety wheat flour used in this study was 78 percent. Oat flour was prepared by milling of Caliber variety oat. To facilitate dehulling oat kernels was preheated at 75C for 20 minutes. Dehulled kernels were heated at 100C for 1 hour period to prevent enzyme activity and bitterness taste of oat flour. Baked oat bread was consumed by 21 volunteers with high BLOOD SUGAR or high BLOOD cholesterol. The amount of consumption was 150 grams bread per day with normal three daily meals during 15 days period. BLOOD samples were taken from volunteers before, 10 and 15 days after bread consumption, and fasting Glucose, cholesterol, LDL and HDL of the samples were measured. Results and Conclusion: The results showed that the BLOOD SUGAR, cholesterol, LDL and HDL of oat bread consumers is significantly lower than the time before oat bread consumption. It showed also that BLOOD triglyceride of consumer BLOOD samples was not different with those before bread consumption; statistically. The findings of researchers and this study indicate that oat bread could decrease the BLOOD SUGAR, cholesterol and LDL of consumers.

Background and Aim: Kombucha tea is made through fermentation of sweet tea by Kombucha fungus. It has beneficial therapeutic effects in the treatment of many diseases. The present study aimed at examining the effect of Kombucha tea extract on BLOOD SUGAR and BLOOD lipid profiles in diabetes.Materials and Methods: Twenty-eight Wistar rats weighing about 250g were divided into 4 equal groups and then injected intraperitoneally (IP) with alloxan to induce diabetes. The administered concentrations were 20 and 80 mg/kg of Kombucha tea and 20 mg/kg of black ordinary tea for one month. The rats’ BLOOD SUGAR and weight were tested before and after the intervention period but BLOOD lipid parameters per either administration were also assessed at the end of the period. Results: Mean BLOOD SUGAR in the diabetic rats receiving Kombucha tea was reduced. Maximum reduction in BLOOD SUGAR was observed in the group receiving Kombucha tea with concentration of 80 mg/kg. However, black tea significantly reduced BLOOD SUGAR.Conclusion: Kombucha tea consumption for a month only reduced BLOOD SUGAR levels in diabetic patients. But increased the weight and not have favorable effects on lipid profile.

Abstract:

Background: We aimed to investigate the effects of occupational stress on BLOOD lipids, BLOOD glucose and immune function of doctors. Methods: In 2017, 1291 doctors (565 males, 726 females) in The First Hospital Affiliated with Harbin Medical University (Harbin, China) were enrolled based on the principle of convenience of sampling and cluster sam-pling. Questionnaires were used to investigate demographic characteristics and occupational stress related fac-tors. Level of glycated hemoglobin was detected by immunoturbidimetric method. Concentration of triglycer-ide was determined by glycerol phosphate oxidase end point method. Total cholesterol concentration in serum was determined by total cholesterol oxidase end point method. Concentration of serum immuno-globulin was detected by immunoturbidimetry. Results: Levels of glycated hemoglobin and triglyceride in high tension group were higher than those in the low tension group. Levels of IgG and IgM in high tension group were lower than those in low tension group. The risk of elevated glycated hemoglobin levels in > 50-yr-old age group was higher than that of the =<35-yr-old age group. Those in the high coping strategy group was higher in the low coping strategy group. The risk of elevated total cholesterol levels in drinkers is 1. 158 times that of non-drinkers. The risk of IgG concentra-tion reduction in smokers was 0. 428 times that of non-smokers. The risk of a decrease in IgA concentration in doctors with good sleep quality is 1. 527 times that of those with poor sleep quality. Conclusion: Occupational stress can lead to increased BLOOD lipids and SUGAR levels as well suppression of immune function in doctors.

Abstract:

Background: Hemoglobin A1c helps to evaluate the efficiency of diabetic treatment for the last three months and the interfering factor of fluctuation of daily BLOOD SUGAR has no effect on its accuracy. Objective: To determine the efficiency of diabetic treatment by HbA1c and evaluate its relationship with FBS, BS 4pm, weight, type of diabetes and sex. Methods: In a descriptive study and through random sampling, 100 patients who referred to diabetic center of Avi-cina hospital of Qazvin were examined for HbA1c, FBS, BS 4 pm. Findings: Of all patients, 30% were in type I and 70% in type II. The most beginning sign of diabetics were polydypsia and polyuria (58%). The average beginning age of diabetics in type I is 23 years and seven months and in type II, 44 years and 8 months. Diabetes control was good in 19% of patients, moderate in 59% and poor in 22%. Conclusion: There are direct relation between HbA1c and BLOOD SUGAR, so that we can determine HbA1c from FBS and vice versa.
